1. Introduction

Life Lessons ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users ("you" or "your"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. If you sign up through a third-party service (such as Apple or Google), we receive your name and email from that provider.
  • Profile Information: Information about your children, including their names (or nicknames) and dates of birth, which you voluntarily provide to organize lessons by age.
  • Lesson Content: The text, voice recordings, and any other content you create within the Service. This is your personal content and is treated with the highest level of privacy.
  • Payment Information: If you subscribe to a premium plan, payment is processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not directly collect or store your credit card numbers or bank account details.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
  • Usage Data: How you interact with the Service, including features used, pages viewed, time spent, crash reports, and performance data.
  • Log Data: IP address, browser type, access times, and referring URLs when you access the Service.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect biometric data.
  • We do not track your location.
  • We do not access your device's contacts, photos, or files beyond what is necessary for voice recording functionality.
  • We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely for the following purposes:

  • Providing the Service: To create and manage your account, store and deliver your lessons, and process your subscriptions.
  • Improving the Service: To understand how users interact with the Service, identify bugs, and improve features and performance.
  • Communication: To send you essential service-related communications, such as account verification, security alerts, and subscription confirmations. We will never send you marketing emails without your explicit consent.
  • Safety and Security: To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security issues, and technical problems.
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or enforceable governmental requests.

4. How We Protect Your Lesson Content

Your lessons are the heart of Life Lessons, and we take their privacy extremely seriously:

  • Encryption at Rest: All lesson content (text and voice recordings) is encrypted at rest using industry-standard AES-256 encryption.
  • Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS 1.3.
  • Access Controls: Only you and the family members you explicitly authorize can access your lessons. Our employees cannot read your lesson content.
  • No AI Training: Your lesson content is never used to train artificial intelligence models, machine learning algorithms, or any automated systems. If you use our voice narration feature, the audio is processed solely for playback within your account and is never shared or analyzed beyond that purpose.
  • No Content Scanning: We do not scan, analyze, or read the content of your lessons for any purpose, including advertising or profiling.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We work with trusted third-party companies that help us operate the Service (e.g., cloud hosting, payment processing, analytics). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and may only use it to perform services on our behalf.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights or safety, or investigate potential violations of our Terms of Service.
  • Business Transfers: If Life Lessons is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will provide notice before your personal information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
  • With Your Consent: We may share your information for any other purpose with your explicit consent.

6. Data Retention

  • Active Accounts: We retain your account information and lesson content for as long as your account is active.
  • Free-Tier Content: Text lessons and other content created under the Free plan are retained for the lifetime of your account regardless of subscription status.
  • Premium Content (Active Subscription): Voice recordings and lessons configured for future reveal are retained for the full duration of an active Monthly or Yearly subscription, or indefinitely for Lifetime Access holders.
  • Premium Content (Lapsed Subscription): If a Monthly or Yearly subscription lapses, a 30-day grace period begins. During this period your Premium content remains intact. If the subscription is not renewed within 30 days of lapse, we reserve the right to permanently delete Premium content, including voice recordings and future-reveal lesson configurations. Lifetime Access holders are exempt from this policy and their Premium content is retained indefinitely.
  • Deleted Content: When you delete a lesson, it is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. Backups containing deleted content are purged within 90 days.
  • Account Deletion: You may request complete account deletion at any time by contacting us at admin@streeterlabs.com. Upon deletion, all your personal data, lessons, and voice recordings will be permanently destroyed within 30 days, and from backups within 90 days.
  • Exported Data: If you export your lessons before account deletion, that exported data is under your control and is no longer governed by this policy.

7. Children's Privacy

Life Lessons is designed for parents and guardians to write lessons for their children. The Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

The information parents provide about their children (names and ages) is used solely to organize lessons by age group and is protected under the same security measures as all other account data.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at admin@streeterlabs.com.
